Alliance Leadership Summit 2017

Changing Your Alcohol Environment Series: Julia Sherman

Julia Sherman of the Wisconsin Alcohol Policy Project spoke to Milwaukee-area advocates about what they can do to change their local alcohol culture and address problematic drinking, such as underage drinking and binge drinking. Sherman's talk was part of the Changing Your Alcohol Environment Series sponsored by the Southeast Region of the Alliance for Wisconsin Youth and the Milwaukee County Substance Abuse Prevention coalition.

Changing Your Alcohol Environment Series: Rodney Wambeam

Rodney Wambeam of the University of Wyoming provided an overview of alcohol in our culture, from the beer, cider, and wine consumed by the early settlers to today's day drinking trend and wine moms. This keynote was part of the Changing Your Alcohol Environment Series offered by the Southeast Region of the Alliance for Wisconsin Youth and the Milwaukee County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition.

E-Cigarette Webinar

This webinar from the City of Milwaukee Tobacco-Free Alliance highlights key issues related to e-cigarette use among Wisconsin youth. It provides an overview of what the products look like and the Tobacco Is Changing campaign, Youth Tobacco Survey data among Wisconsin middle and high school students, the acute impact on lung health from the EVALI outbreak, and differences in product regulation.

WRAP Milwaukee Retail Alcohol Data Webinar

Learn how alcohol is marketed and sold in Milwaukee, and how it impacts youth. Experts from the City of Milwaukee Tobacco-Free Alliance, Community Advocates Public Policy Institute, Counter Tools, and UW-Madison Population Health Institute present findings from 2017-2019 retail assessments in Milwaukee.

Youth Tobacco Prevention

Destiny and Maya from the Neu Life FACT group share how they have been impacted by tobacco in their neighborhoods and in their families. Some Milwaukee neighborhoods have easier access to tobacco than to healthy food, and through Wisconsin Wins, they conduct compliance checks to ensure retailers don't sell to underage youth.
