sts of two hours of self-paced content followed by 6.5 hours of instructor
-led training. The self-paced computer training must be completed at least
three days prior to the beginning of the course and the one-hour self-pac
ed post session computer training must be completed as well in order for a
ttendees to obtain certification. Registration ends August 9.\n\nClass
size is limited. This workshop is open to Milwaukee County residents and
those who work with them.\n\nAll attendees are required to provide a $25 d
eposit to reserve their spot in this course. The deposit will be returned
to those who attend and live or work in Milwaukee County. Those who do not
attend\, or those who do not live or work in Milwaukee County\, will not
receive a refund.\n\nMental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify\,
understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disor
ders. This training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide
initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or subst
ance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.\n\nWhat th
e Mental Health First Aid Course offers:\n• Common signs and symptoms of m
ental illness\n• Common signs and symptoms of substance use\n• How to inte
ract with a person in crisis\n• How to connect the person with help\n• Con
tent on trauma\, addiction\, and self-care\n\nThe course will teach you ho
w to apply the ALGEE action plan:\n• Assess for risk of suicide or harm.\n
• Listen nonjudgmentally.\n• Give reassurance and information.\n• Encourag
e appropriate professional help.\n• Encourage self-help and other support
strategies.\n\nClass size is limited. This workshop is open to Milwauke
e County residents and those who work with them.\n\nAll attendees are requ
